Chapter Past President Bio
I am 61 years old and retired, after working at the same place for 35 ½ years. Grew up trout fishing with my dad, brothers, uncles, and cousins. Almost all of our fishing was done in Marinette County, and of course trout was synonymous with brook trout. I started fly fishing in 1972 with my Uncle Walt’s fly rod. It me took a few years to learn the mechanics of casting, but I persevered, and came to like it. A few years later my brother gave me a fly tying kit (sorry Ed, but it was junk). That led me to a real fly tying class and a Trout Unlimited membership . Through out this period I was a Scoutmaster and didn’t have any spare time for TU. After 15 years in Scouting, and after my 4 boys had moved on, I decided to develop a more close and personal relationship with my fly rod. The rest is history. I spent most of my TU volunteer time with the First Cast Program, teaching kids to tie and cast. One of my main goals as president is to generate more participation from our membership in the many programs of Fox Valley Chapter, and increase the attendance at Chapter meetings.
