April 26 Fishing Day for People with Disabilities: 12:00 Noon, Maine Creek Farm, Shiocton Maine Creek Farm’s handicapped accessible pond is a big hit for anglers with disabilities. What a great way for you to experience the thrill and excitement of trout fishing. Don’t miss it!
May ??? Fort McCoy Work Day and Vernon County Fishing Trip Traditionally in May, Fox Valley TUer’s have been running across the state to help out with a stream improvement project at Fort McCoy. John Noble is a knowledgeable and excellent host who has always been happy to share all the recreational opportunities available at the Fort. Itinerary: Leave Valley at 4:00 on Friday, May 18th (car pooling or caravaning) Overnight camping on the Fort at Pine View Campgrounds at Ft. McCoy Meet at the Coal Yard (Hunter Check Station) across from the “old” Main Gate Saturday morning at 8 am and set out to work on Tarr Creek. Work until 12:00 noon. Lunch at a café in Sparta and on to Vernon County. Check into cabin west of Viroqua, nap and fish the Bad Axe Saturday night and Sunday morning.
August 9 Picnic and Inter-chapter Mixer: This year we’re gathering at the Nancy Rose farm along the beautiful Waupaca River. Stop by and meet some of the landowners and regional TU members who’ve made our projects possible.
October 4 Waupaca River Scatter Plant A great way to spend a fall morning, piloting a canoe down the Waupaca, dropping off “wild-reared” trout as you go. Studies show that these trout have much higher survival rates than normal hatchery trout. Check out new fishing spots!
